Following on from Thursday’s news that the award-winning actress Glenn Close has joined Marvel Studios’ cosmic action adventure, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, comes another surprising announcement – ex-DOCTOR WHO co-star Karen Gillan is set to play one of the film’s villains!

Marvel are staying schtum at the moment in regards to who Gillan will exactly be portraying, but stay tuned for details soon. In the meantime, if there’s any GOTG fans amongst you, feel free to speculate away in the comments below.

Gillan joins the previously announced Chris Pratt, Michael Rooker, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace and Glenn Close. Roles that remain un-cast at present are CG creations Groot (the living tree) and Rocket Raccoon (the gun-toting, well, raccoon, obviously). Shooting is scheduled to begin in June here in the UK, for an August 2014 release date.

Karen Gillan will next appear in the horror flick OCULUS.
