It has been revealed that Lee Pace is in final negotiations to play an antagonist in Marvel’s forthcoming GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY movie. Now this could be classed as an ironic twist of fate as Pace originally tested for the role of Star-Lord but, as we all know, Chris Pratt will now be the eponymous hero, but like Pace’s character in the quirky PUSHING DAISIES whom had the ability to revive dead people, Pace’s association with the project has been resurrected.

It’s a sure bet that Thanos will be involved in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY movie but will he be the main antagonist? Would Marvel want the same villain in two movies if Thanos is to be the principal baddie in AVENGERS 2? Or could it be that Thanos is the ‘puppet master’ and controlling events through another?

So what could Pace’s role be exactly? It’s all being kept tightly under wraps but I suspect it could be that of Thanos’ henchman The Controller as recent rumours suggest he will play a part in some way. And for those of you who are unfamiliar with The Controller he is a highly skilled chemist and mechanical engineer who specialises in mind control.

No doubt all will be revealed in the fullness of time.

Another brand new addition to the cast comes in the form of British actress Ophelia Lovibond (TITANIC: BLOOD AND STEEL), who THR is reporting has landed herself a supporting role. As with Pace, no details as to her exact role in the movie has officially been announced.

Starring alongside Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord is Michael Rooker (THE WALKING DEAD) as Yondu, Dave Bautista (THE SCORPION KING 3) as Drax the Destroyer, and we currently await official word from Marvel Studios that Zoe Saldana (STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS) will play Gamora.
