Following on from the earlier confirmation that Bradley Cooper will be voicing the wise-cracking, ass-capping Rocket Raccoon in James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, the guys at SuperheroHype have been speaking to Michael Rooker about how the film is coming along. The Rook is playing Yondu in Marvel’s upcoming space adventure.

The HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER star said, “When I first got the role of Yondu, Gunn was like, ‘Don’t read any of the comics!’, but it’s beautiful stuff. Whenever you do a film of comic book characters and stuff, you don’t know how much you can show, you don’t know how much is going to be brought out. Nowadays, movies are done and they already have two or three others planned out. So stuff you do in this one, you ask, ‘Why aren’t we doing this?’ and they say, ‘Well be patient!’”

With great patience comes great sequels… or something like that.

As well as Rooker as Yondu and Cooper as Rocket, the film also stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, and Vin Diesel performing motion-capture and voice work for Groot. Add a supporting cast of Lee Pace, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, Djimon Hounsou, Karen Gillan and Glenn Close, and you have quite the line-up.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is currently on track for a 1st August, 2014 release.
