Let’s face it, there’s something terribly watchable about giant monsters, from the idiosyncratic world of Guillermo Del Toro, to the Norwegian found-footage horror-shtick Troll Hunter, the average geek’s affinity with oversized uglies is profound. So there’s no excuse for any negativity about the upcoming Godzilla flick.

The new international trailer offers a brief glimpse of the scaly nuisance and is, as you’d expect, Godzilla, but it’s hit the refresh button and looks pretty decent, and if all else fails, watching a giant dinosaur smash up a city never gets old.

Godzilla is released in UK cinemas on May 16th.
