Last week we reported on rumblings that both Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen (SILENT HOUSE) were in talks to star in Legendary’s GODZILLA reboot, but like all these things there’s no point getting too excited until you have some official confirmation in one form or another. Such as the star themselves talking about the picture on the red carpet of yesterday’s BAFTA’s. Ok, we admit it – it’s Cranston we were all really hoping to get official word of, but Olsen is a huge talent nonetheless, and a far cry from the dodgy cast that blighted Sony’s last attempt at bringing the big guy to our screens. So what did Olsen have to say about Gareth Edwards’ and Frank Darabont’s approach to the material? To be fair, not much, but what little she did say once again points to the fact that this is very much in the right hands – “It’s definitely not lighthearted. It’s going back to the roots of the original Japanese film.” Can’t argue with that; so far so good! Now, can Cranston be far behind…

GODZILLA is scheduled for a May 16th 2014 release.

Question: Since the movie promises multiple monsters, which classic Godzilla character would you like to see cameo? Are you a Mothra man? Mad about Megalon? Goofy for Godzooky? Let us know in the comments below or on Twitter @STARBURST_MAG
