The Hollywood Reporter has word that GHOSTBUSTERS III is to undergo rewrites after the sad passing of Harold Ramis. Ramis was due to have a small cameo in the film, as were certain other members of the original Ghostbusters team. Bill Murray’s involvement has been a major he’s in/he’s out topic over the last few years, and Ramis’ death now throws up questions about any appearances from Murray, Dan Aykroyd or Ernie Hudson.

Whilst no major plot details are known at this point, Aykroyd has previously said, “It’s based on new research that’s being done in particle physics by the young men and women at Columbia University. Basically, there’s a research being done that I can say that the world or the dimension we live in, our four planes of existence, length, height, width and time, become threatened by some of the research that’s being done. Ghostbusters – new Ghostbusters – have to come and solve the problem.”

Earlier reports claim that the movie could start shooting as early as next year, although that has yet to be confirmed.
