francis-matthews

All of us here at STARBURST are incredibly sad to hear that veteran actor Francis Matthews has died, aged 86.

Although a prolific stage, film, and television actor, it is likely to be his fantasy roles for which he will most be remembered.

Roles in Hammer films THE REVENGE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1958), RASPUTIN, THE MAD MONK (1966) and more importantly, DRACULA: PRINCE OF DARKNESS (1966) brought him to the attention of horror fans. But it is as the voice of Captain Scarlet in the Gerry Anderson TV series, CAPTAIN SCARLET AND THE MYSTERONS which brought him much acclaim, and he made regular appearances at conventions, always happy to meet fans.

STARBURST sends his family and friends our deepest sympathy.
