Formerly known as HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO, Fox have seen sense and re-titled their big-screen bio of the acclaimed director, opting for a considerably less clunky HITCHCOCK. (Wonder if anyone will buy a ticket thinking they’re going to see the further adventures of Will Smith’s pissed-up superhero?) As previously reported, the high profile Oscar-botherer in the making stars Anthony Hopkins as Hitch, Helen Mirren as Alma Reville, Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh and Jessica Biel as Vera Miles. Oh, and The Karate Kid himself, Ralph Macchio, plays PSYCHO screenwriter Joe Stefano. Weird casting that one, but we’re going to trust director Sacha Gervasi (of excellent rock-doc ANVIL) knows what he’s doing. Anyway, where’s that poster we were promised…

HITCHCOCK

Hmmm. While we loved that first look side profile pic of Hopkins, this fella on the poster just looks like that dodgy old gangster geezer from Channel 4’s PHONEJACKER. Not too impressed. But still intrigued nonetheless.

HITCHCOCK opens in US theatres November 23rd. No news on the UK release yet, but expect it shortly after.

But before that film arrives, we have the BBC’s own rival Hitchcock movie on its way entitled THE GIRL. Here’s the trailer for those who may have missed it…
