Kiefer’s been banging on about it for years now, but as our memory of THE JACK BAUER POWER HOUR (or 24 as it was more widely known) began to fade from the public conscience, the prospect of the proposed feature length movie started to look less likely by the day. Until now…

Looks like the project is very much back on, with deadline.com reporting that 20th Century Fox are aiming to have the movie start production as early as Spring 2012 when Sutherland wraps on his new show TOUCH (a trailer for which can be found here).

Screenwriter Mark Bomback is the latest to have a crack at Jack, and is right now beavering away on a new draft to deliver to Fox by the end of the year. Bomback is very much in demand at the moment, with three high profile projects hitting our screens in the next couple of years, including the TOTAL RECALL remake, Bryan Singer’s JACK THE GIANT KILLER, and Hugh Jackman’s THE WOLVERINE. In the past we’ve seen Bomback’s work in LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD (sorry UK distributors, I’m still not calling it DIE HARD 4.0), RACE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN and UNSTOPPABLE.

It’s also reported that Tony Scott, who was previously being touted to direct, is no longer attached. Which for 24 purists must be a huge sigh of relief considering Scott’s penchant for playing with time with his showoffy-cinematography (industry term that). All that hand-cranked camera work may have benefitted MAN OF FIRE, but it’s getting a little old now Tony.

Who will Fox pick to lead Bauer on another adventure now? Only time will tell…

So, 24 movie. Good idea, or bad? Let us know in the Comments below or on Twitter @Starburst_Mag
