Directed by Neil Jones, THE REVEREND stars Rutger Hauer, Stuart Brennan, Tamer Hassan, Doug Bradley and Emily Booth. This is basically a new vampire film along the lines of Park Chan-Wook’s THIRST. It follows a new man of the cloth at his first parish in a small town where he discovers that there is some shady goings on surrounding a local businessman. One night he is visited by a woman seeking sanctuary who proceeds to bite him. He awakens the next day with a thirst for human blood and proceeds to clean up the village of its less than savoury inhabitants.

Here’s the newly released trailer:

It’s good to see that the vampire has not been completely corrupted by a twinkly Robert Pattinson. Any film that takes a step towards reclaiming the vampire from the screaming hormonal masses is alright in my book and I look forward to seeing the final result when THE REVEREND comes out sometime in 2012.
