Of all the remakes being bandied around these days, this has to be one of the strangest choices we’ve heard in years. What’s even stranger is that Elijah Wood has chosen the project to headline. We know it must be frustrating for the actor to be forever associated with the little hobbit that could, Frodo Baggins, but talk about going to extremes!

For those unfamiliar with the delightful 1980 original, Wood will here play Frank, a somewhat troubled individual with a penchant for stalking women, then, if that wasn’t heinous enough, scalping them. As you can imagine, it’s a laugh riot.

It’s hard to see this going down too well with the audiences Alexandre Aja (writer/producing) and P2’s Frank Khalfoun (writer/directing) are clearly aiming for with their casting of the Hobbit Elijah Wood. Without context of the original’s cult status I think it’s going to be a tough sell. Especially after seeing the following NSFW advance teaser trailer…
