Evan Peters Gives Insight into Quicksilver

For the more casual superhero film fans out there, you’re likely to get a little confused over the next couple of years. The reason for this is that audiences are set to get two completely different versions of the same character in two completely different film universes from two completely different studios. Yes, we’re talking about Quicksilver. First to play the character, we have Evan Peters tackling the speedster in Bryan Singer’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The following year, we’ll get Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s take on the same character, yet completely different version, in Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Recently speaking to io9, Peters has been giving a little look into what we can expect from his version of Magneto’s son.

When asked if he’ll be embracing the silver hair of the comic book character, Peters said, “Yes. Yeah. Yeah, it’s cool.” When asked on what we can expect in the form of an outfit for Quicksilver, the actor revealed that for a good part of his appearance in the film he’ll be wearing civilian clothing, including “a pretty sweet jacket.”

It’s previously been confirmed that Bryan Singer will be using innovative filming techniques for a lot of the scenes involving Quicksilver; scenes that essentially film in slow-motion in order to give the impression of his super-speed. Discussing this approach, Peters added, “It’s quite a big room. It’s super, super, super, super slomo. You can see raindrops frozen in the air. Stuff like that. It’s amazing how that camera works… You don’t do anything differently other than try to keep your eyes open in the bright light. And try to make it look cool, I guess.”

Based on earlier reports, it seems that Quicksilver won’t be featured in all too much of the film, but  he will have an important part to play. During the time travelling epic, he’s set to be primarily involved as a member of the 1970s crew.

As well as Peters, DAYS OF FUTURE PAST features a huge cast that includes the likes of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Daniel Cudmore, Lucas Till and Peter Dinklage.

At present, the film is on track for a 23rd May, 2014 release.
