Manchester developers White Paper Games have released a trailer for their upcoming independent game Ether One: The Restorer, a first-person adventure game that explores human memories and emotional themes in a strange science fiction world, to be released for PC and Mac digital distribution later in 2013.

Featuring explorative game play and narrative driven puzzles, Ether intends to tell a mature story about an individual with a lost identity who is sent into the minds of mentally ill humans to restructure their broken memories. Tasked with restoring the mind of a client named Jean, the player must explore her memories in order to rebuild them piece by piece. Purported to contain a hand-painted world where sci-fi meets the English coastline, this sounds like the kind of cerebral adventure that has been all but wiped out of existence by tag tournaments and military combat.

The developers are, of course, trying to get Ether on Steam, and you can support them through their Steam Green Light page.

We’d be lying if we didn’t say that we were rooting for our Manchester neighbours, White Paper Games, and hoping that the finished product lived up to the promise of what we’ve seen in the trailer so far. Ether One: The Restorer will be the first episode of the two-part game and is due for release in the second quarter of 2013.
