Scott Derrickson, hot off his hit horror flick SINISTER, is staying with the genre for BEWARE THE NIGHT, a supernatural cop movie from the Jerry Bruckheimer stable.

Former Hulk Eric Bana is reportedly in negotiations to star in the picture, which revolves around a New York police officer who investigates demons, werewolves and cases of possession. Sounds eerily close to Carl Kolchak to us, and with a big screen, Johnny Depp starring, Edgar Wright directed* version of THE NIGHT STALKER heading its way to cinemas in 2014, that comparison might be a thorn in Derrickson’s side. Or vice versa, if BEWARE THE NIGHT hits its tentative 2013 release date.

More as it drops…

* That’s the last we heard anyway, but he’d have to squeak it in between THE WORLD’S END (2013) and the FX heavy ANT-MAN (2015). It’ll prove tricky to say the least.
