Despite some massive hype and acclaim for the first CABIN FEVER and HOSTEL films, Eli Roth hasn’t really done much. Probably the best thing he has done was his iconic role in INGLORIOUS BASTERDS as Donnie ‘The Bear Jew’ Donowitz. Now he is wearing his producer hat again as he did with THE LAST EXORCISM for AFTERSHOCK.

AFTERSHOCK involves an insane asylum on an island which is subject to a breakout when an earthquake hits. It is the English language debut of Chilean director Nicolas Lopez whose recent films were the highest grossing Chilean films of 2010 and 2011. AFTERSHOCK is written by Lopez, Roth and Guillermo Amoedo and was inspired by Lopez’s experience during the Chilean earthquake in 2010.

Not only will Roth produce but he is also taking the lead role in the film starring alongside pop star Selena Gomez, Ariel Levy, Nicolas Martinez and Lorena Izzo. The film is four weeks into production in Chile and the film is fielding several distribution offers despite not a single frame having been seen.

We should get to see the eventual results in early 2013.
