The cinematic adventures of Judge Dredd may not be done and dusted after all.

Despite last year’s chisel jawed lawman failing to find a wider audience beyond his die-hard fans the film has rapidly gained cult status. Dredd may have only recouped $35.6 million worldwide of its $45 million production budget, but thanks to Blu-ray and DVD sales the film could potentially make a profit.

With such an impassioned fan base Collider asked Karl Urban, who made the role of the laconic judge his own, if there was any possibility of a sequel. Urban revealed that he had been in touch with Dredd’s screenwriter Alex Garland, and that a sequel was, “not off the agenda.”

He also said, “Clearly everyone has woken up to the fact that an audience has found this movie and loves it. It’s entirely possible, and if people want to see another instalment then they should be vocal about that, because, it can happen.  The power of fandom can resurrect projects. In fact, that’s what happened with Star Trek. They weren’t going to do a third season until fans did a letter writing campaign and they continued that series.

As Urban notes, it’s up to the fans to speak up and let the studio know that there is an audience out there hungry for more Dredd!
