Firstly, thank you to you all out there that “liked” and tweeted the recent ‘A Call to Arms …’ news item! It’s great to know that Starburst readers are so passionate about getting a DREDD sequel into production.

So you’ll be pleased to know that so far the Make a DREDD Sequel petition on Facebook has exceeded 50,000 signatures. Also Amazon.com (Amazon’s U.S. website) has reported that they have completely sold out of their Blu-ray stock of Dredd, but more are expected to arrive this Thursday. This is astoundingly positive as the film met with such ambivalence in America.

Netflix has also recorded an upsurge of interest in Dredd since the campaign launched, and Lionsgate (the studio behind the film) have suggested that fans purchase the DVD/Blu-ray as well as write to, and tweet the studio.

The star, and long-time DREDD fan, Karl Urban himself has stated, “The more people that campaign for it, the more people that email, Twitter, write-in to Lionsgate saying ‘we want to see more of this,’ then the more likelihood we will get to see it; we’re certainly doing everything we can to make sure it happens.”

And as the film was conceived as the first part of a trilogy maybe, just maybe, we’ll get to take the Long Walk through the Cursed Earth with Dredd; or face the judgement of the Dark Judges after all.
