Now before you get too excited, the further onscreen adventures of Horrible and co are sadly still a ways off due to Joss Whedon’s insurmountable workload, but it’s always encouraging to know that all involved are passionate about one day revisiting that universe. In a new extended version of Entertainment Weekly’s recent chat with the geek god, Joss was probed on what we might expect from the musical’s sequel…

“It would be evolution, where he is now. What it was like for him on the bottom, what it’s like for him on the top. We got a bunch of stuff written, and God knows the actors are willing. But I stupidly decided to make a TV show.”

Said TV show is AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. You might have heard of it.

“…The thing is, it can’t feel like episode 2. That’s the important thing. A sequel has to be its own movie. You’ve got to look to GODFATHER PART II and to THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.”

Considering how the first ended, we’ve never been sure as to how another movie would work tonally, but if there’s one person up to the challenge it’s Whedon.
