Manchester-based readers should make a date in their diary to attend the upcoming screening of John Carpenter’s THE THING at The Dancehouse Theatre, Oxford Road on July 17th.

It’s a rare chance to catch the cult classic on the big screen (including a specially filmed intro from @TheHorrorMaster himself!), thanks to the good folk at GRIMM UP NORTH.

Carpenter regular Kurt Russell headlines the terrifying 1982 sci-fi horror film, famous for its gruesome and grotesque special effects work from Rob Bottin and his team. 

For those who have yet to see it, here’s a brief synopsis:

“A research team in the Antarctic uncover something nasty when exploring the remains of a Norwegian camp; a shape-shifting alien form which wants nothing but to assimilate members of the team. With the creature taking human form, they must decide who is real and who is The Thing before they, and possibly all mankind are wiped out.“
