The ad break at Superbowl XLVII has brought us a few intriguing glimpses of new scenes and action from this summer’s blockbusters to whet our appetite, such as in the IRON MAN 3 and STAR TREK:INTO DARKNESS trailers which balanced showing new footage with that already seen in previous trailers, however Disney has released a disappointing 30 second spot that recycles most of its footage from the previous two (arguably better) trailers.

Apart from a new tagline, the new trailer doesn’t add much to sell the movie and even that tagline – “Oz will amaze” – could prove problematic; along with the poster tagline for EVIL DEAD (“The Most Terrifying Film You Will Ever Experience”), it could set Sam Raimi up for a fall this Summer if he doesn’t deliver (even if he is not directing EVIL DEAD, he is producing and his name will forever be associated with the franchise.)

Hopefully the OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL will indeed amaze when it goes on general release March 8th 2013.
