In an interview with MTV Geek, HELLBOY director Guillermo del Toro confirmed that he is discussion to bring together some of DC/Vertigo comics best loved supernatural characters.

The project, titled HEAVEN SENT, will see a team up of characters such as Swamp Thing, John Constantine, Deadman, Zantana and Etrigan the Demon.

In the interview del Toro responded to the question of a JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK-type movie by saying;

“When somebody asked me about JUSTICE LEAGUE… I’m not involved in JUSTICE LEAGUE. I am discussing… I’ve been discussing with the fans and I’ve been very, very open about how much Swamp Thing was key when I was a kid.

“Comics in Mexico came on the first two days of the week. Around Tuesday and Wednesday I would go to the newsstand on my bicycle and I would get SWAMP THING every time it was available and I loved Jack Kirby’s DEMON. I love Constantine and all that.

“You know, I’ve been pursuing doing something with them for many, many years. Hopefully it’ll come to pass. But we are still just discussing.”

This project is still in the early “discussion” stages and could well end up being nothing more than wishful thinking, but the idea alone is enough to get fans everywhere salivating in anticipation. And if del Toro’s HELLBOY films are anything to go by, he is the perfect man for the job.

Swamp Thing and Constantine have made it to the big screen before, with mixed results, but a team up of the biggest and best of the DC/Vertigo supernatural line could be just the thing to give these characters the big screen treatment they deserve.
