According to The LA Times, a remake of George A. Romero’s 1985 DAY OF THE DEAD is in the works. The report states that the remake rights have been purchased by Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell, collectively known as Campbell Grobman Films.

For those of you that haven’t managed to banish it from your memory yet, there was a poorly received DAY OF THE DEAD remake of sorts back in 2008. Christa Campbell actually appeared in this film, but the film wasn’t really up to scratch. It started as a remake but quickly veered in a different direction to the original material.

Speaking on this latest remake, Campbell said, “We want to keep it as close to the Romero version as possible to make sure that his fans are happy. These are not going to be zombies climbing walls and doing back flips like in WORLD WAR Z.”

Campbell Grobman Films have previous when it comes to this type of thing, having been responsible for this year’s TEXAS CHAINSAW 3D.
