In what could be considered a callous and insensitive move Fox has moved the US release date of DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES from July 18th to July 11th, 2014. Why could this be considered callous and insensitive you might wonder? Well, 11th July was Universal’s date to release FAST & FURIOUS 7. But with only half the film completed and production on hold indefinitely, due to the devastating death of the film’s star Paul Walker, Universal may be looking at a future release date, if they decide to release the film at all.

As tragic as Paul Walker’s accident was, Hollywood is still a business and I don’t think Fox’s moving DAWN by a week will affect the films business one way or the other. If Fox hadn’t taken 11th July spot another studio would have, and Fox may well have already considered the move before the disastrous event.

In other DAWN news, today sees the release of a new poster for the film, and the announcement that the first trailer will arrive next Wednesday. Check out the teaser art below…
