With us seemingly at a time where every other news story has some sort of remake, reboot or reimagining angle involved, now comes word from The Hollywood Reporter that David Goyer has been hired to write the screenplay for James Cameron’s FANTASTIC VOYAGE remake.

Goyer has written a whole host of genre movies over the years, such as THE SUBSTITUTE, THE CROW: CITY OF ANGELS, NICK FURY: AGENT OF S.H.I.E.L.D., the BLADE trilogy, Christopher Nolan’s DARK KNIGHT trilogy, and Zack Snyder’s MAN OF STEEL, with him also currently working on the MAN OF STEEL sequel and the now-confirmed JUSTICE LEAGUE.

As for FANTASTIC VOYAGE, the Richard Fleischer original movie was released in 1966. Starring Raquel Welch, Stephen Boyd, Edmond O’Brien and Donald Pleasance, the film told the story of a team of scientists who are shrunk down to atomic size and sent into a human body in a miniature submarine. The movie also spawned an animated series as well. This Jim Cameron-helmed remake has been in the works for over a decade, although 20th Century Fox has apparently now made the project a priority.

Expect more on this FANTASTIC VOYAGE redo as it develops.
