Jules Verne is spinning in his grave!

Yet another version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea is on the production slate with David Fincher to direct and Brad Pitt to star in. Its unclear whether he’ll play the Captain Nemo role or Ned Land part, but rest assured we don’t need another film of this classic that was done right with the James Mason, Kirk Douglas 1954 version. There have been at least twelve movies made from the book not including Ridley Scott and Sam Raimi’s Ghost House planning to go forth with their projects. Then let’s not forget about the Coumbia serial, animated adaptations and the Asylum’s wonderful take on it, 30,000 Leagues Under the Sea!

At least the Disney execs had the good sense to put this project on hold for a while until they can figure out an agreeable budget for the film.

A whale of a tale indeed!
