Talks surrounding MAD MAX: FURY ROAD started again recently, with director George Miller revealing that the troubled film could go actually go before cameras early 2012 (read the full story here). While he did hint at the existence of a proposed fifth flick (subtiled FURIOSA) he failed to mention the following nugget – we could be getting a whole new trilogy!

In an interview with the Australian Financial Review, Miller’s long time producing partner Doug Mitchell revealed: “We’ve written the script for the second and almost finished the third. We never intended to, they were part of the exploration of the characters.”

Details are still scant on FURY ROAD, though it is still thought to star Tom Hardy (INCEPTION) and Charlize Theron (MONSTER). Teresa Palmer (I AM NUMBER FOUR) and Nicholas Hoult (X-MEN: FIRST CLASS) were also rumoured to join the cast, though with the long delays anything could have changed by the time it goes into production again. A vast collection of over 150 vehicles have already been built, photos of which leaked last year…

…not that you can see much of the designs themselves, but y’know.

Less excitingly, it’s also been confirmed that FURY ROAD will mark the first of the series to be in 3D. Yay.

We’ll have more on these films as they develop…
