He may be notoriously reluctant to return to DOCTOR WHO, but Christopher Eccleston’s soon to make his debut in another much-loved genre franchise – the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel has just released a brand new character poster showing him almost unrecognisable under heavy make-up as Malekith, ruler of the Dark Elves.

Malekith the Accursed will be menacing Thor and his Asgardian crew in the upcoming sequel, when he leads his race into battle, seeking to vengefully plunge the world into darkness. Bit of a nasty bloke then, but Eccleston should make him an interesting and tough villain – he’s a very good actor despite his reputation for taking himself too seriously. And, you know what, lots of planets have a Norse…
