Yes, we’ve long know that THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 and THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4 are both already greenlit, but Chris Cooper, the series’ Norman Osborn, has recently been bigging up a lot more to come after next year’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

Speaking to MTV, Cooper said, “ SPIDER-MAN 2 was an introduction to Norman, and – you’ll see – an extremely odd introduction, which apparently will lead to something more.”

Could the actor simply be referring to Norman becoming the Green Goblin or could he be talking about something even more sinister? A Sinister Six, perhaps?

Asked whether he’s had any talks about the Sinister Six, Cooper revealed, “They sent me some material but they said also that this Spider-Man is its own Spider-Man. We’re just kind of starting from the beginning.”

I guess that’s one way of politely saying that any appearance from the Sinister Six may not contain the familiar Sinister Six faces that you’ve seen in the comics over the years. That said, the comic book version often had a rotating list of members.

The Spidey sequel will see Peter Parker looking to juggle his high school graduation, his affection for Gwen Stacy and his promise to her father that he will stay away from her, and the small matter of a couple of supervillains – namely Electro and Rhino.

Andrew Garfield returns as Pater Parker/Spider-Man, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May and Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben. Joining them is Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn, Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as Rhino. There’s also an unknown role for Sarah Gadon and Felicity Jones, with Jones confirmed to be playing a villain who is tied to the Green Goblin.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is released on 18th April, 2014.
