Movie News: Channing Tatum Confirmed to Play X-Men’s Gambit

Given how producer Lauren Shuler Donner has regularly talked about her wish to see Channing Tatum play Gambit in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men world, not to mention the actor talking about his love of the character, it comes as no surprise whatsoever to hear that Channing Tatum will indeed be playing Remy LeBeau.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Tatum has signed on to play the loveable rogue in X-MEN: APOCALYPSE and a spin-off solo adventure for the character. In fact, going even further, it’s rumoured that the character’s spin-off could be released on 18th July, 2018; a date that is currently reserved for an untitled Fox Marvel movie. Before that, X-MEN: APOCALYPSE will be released in 2016 as a sequel to this month’s X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST.

Comic book legends Chris Claremont and Jim Lee created Gambit back in 1990. From New Orleans, the character has a murky past and some pretty impressive kinetic manipulation abilities. It didn’t take long for the cocky Cajun to become a fan favourite, and he actually appeared in 2009's X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, played by Taylor Kitsch.
