Hatwell hinted at the existence of this project last month, but it wasn’t confirmed until today – Peggy Carter will return in her own MARVEL ONE-SHOT! 

For those unfamiliar with the format, in between making gazillions at the box office, Marvel Studios continue to explore the MCU in short movies, branded One-Shots, which are usually used as incentives to pony up for the DVD/Blu-ray. There’s been three so far, two of which have starred Agent Phil Coulson (and he went on to get his own show, just sayin’), and they’re slowly getting more ambitious, ITEM 47 (found on the AVENGERS ASSEMBLE DVD/Blu-ray) being the most enjoyable by far. 

Talking with The Big Issue, the actress said: “Fans of the first film really wanted to find out what happened to Peggy afterwards, so Marvel are also making a short film, which is basically ‘What Peggy Did Next,’ which will be shown at Comic-Con and be on the DVD extras of the second film. So as well as doing a bit in the new film, I’ve got a whole new spin-off short film. It has been great to be back in training with the stunt coordinators, kicking some butt again.”

Atwell was fantastic in the role, and with Cap leaving her behind in the ‘40s we were always more than a little gutted we wouldn’t be seeing too much of her in future MCU stories (until Joss chucks in a WWII time-travel plot into AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. that is), so this comes as great news! Shame those of us not attending San Diego Comic-Con have to wait until CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER comes out on DVD/Blu-ray to see it though. That’s a bloody long wait.
