With the central story of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER focusing on Cap in present day, fans of Peggy Atwell’s Peggy Carter were concerned that the character wouldn’t return. We now know she’ll be seen in flashbacks at some point, but today comes news that Carter might actually be taking centre stage in Marvel Studios next ONE SHOT too. Speaking with The Age, Atwell had this to say: 

“…Marvel have made sure that as part of Comic-Con there will be a little kind of snapshot as to what Peggy’s actually really capable of, which was finished here and which was great fun. Hopefully, it will lead to other things.”

Certainly sounds like a ONE SHOT to us! As for her involvement in next year’s sequel THE WINTER SOLDIER, the actress sadly wouldn’t budge: 

“They’re so tight, the Marvel family, and private. I can say that I am involved in some way in the second one. Just know that it’s not me being cryptic, it’s Marvel. They can just as easily kill me off if I threaten to tell the story before it’s time. They’re keeping it all under wraps.”

She ain’t kidding either. We recall an instance back in February 2012 when Marvel Studios fired SFX artist Chris Wells for telling Starburst readers that the Red Skull wasn’t in THE AVENGERS (as was the flimsy rumour then), and that the film was going to be awesome. What a bastard! Deserved everything he got. Atwell’s wise to keep schtum. …Though they might still want a word about that ONE SHOT thing.
