Now that the dust is slowly starting to settle on the Ben Affleck as Batman casting news, The Huffington Post have managed to get Josh Brolin’s thoughts on things. Strong rumours suggested that Brolin was being lined up to play an older, grizzled Dark Knight alongside Henry Cavill’s younger, naïve Man of Steel.

When asked about if he had any talks with director Zack Snyder, Brolin said, “We did. I didn’t have conversations about it, but Zack, that was part of his idea. It just didn’t turn out. It’s OK. It is OK. You know, another scenario might have worked better, but I’m happy for Ben.”

In terms of the ridiculous reaction the Affleck casting has had, Brolin added, “I’ve never seen such a global reaction in my life. I feel for him, truly. I would not want to be him right now. The reaction becomes so personal. It’s like, ‘Fuck this guy, I wish he was dead.’ And you’re like, ‘What? Dude, seriously? This guy is just working like you are. He’s doing the same things you are. He’s trying to make the best choices he can.’ I want him to kick ass and I want everyone to love it and kind of eat their words.”

So, whilst he did have talks to play the Caped Crusader, Brolin seems happy and enthusiastic about the decision to have Affleck don the cape and cowl. We couldn’t agree more. Affleck, you the bomb as Batman, yo!

At present, the MAN OF STEEL sequel (still not officially given a title yet) is looking at a 17th July, 2015 release.
