Fans of Jef Smith’s acclaimed comic book BONE, get ready to start sweating – your beloved book is heading to the big-screen…

Warner Bros. have had the rights to the character since 2008, but today movement has finally been made with the hiring of both writer and director.

P.J. Hogan has been tasked to helm, and was previously responsible for such movies as MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING, CONFESSIONS OF A SHOPAHOLIC and, most famously, MURIEL’S WEDDING. The closest in tone to the approach required for this property was the little seen live-action adaptation of PETER PAN in 2003. Hardly your first choice is it?

As for writing duties, these will be handled by Patrick Sean Smith, whose past credits are equally ill-suited (though he did write an episode SUPERNATURAL once to be fair, but GREEK? EVERWOOD?!)

Told you to prepare to start sweating!

Animal Logic, the studio behind HAPPY FEET and that Zack Snyder movie nobody saw, LEGENDS OF THE GAURDIANS: THE OWLS OF GA’HOOLE, will handle animation duties, the film incorporating both that and live-action.

Expect more news as it develops…
