Shooting on BOND 23 starts next week, so it shouldn’t be too long until we get some concrete info on where Mendes is taking the franchise, and the rumour mill can officially close shop. Will it be called SKYFALL? CARTE BLANCHE? PROPERTY OF A LADY? Will the recent talk of it possibly eschewing the action format for a more Oscar-baiting art piece prove true? All will be revealed soon. We hope.

So what’s the latest then? Well, this actually does sound on the up-and-up – in a last minute casting coup, the great Albert Finney (MILLER’S CROSSING) has joined the cast as not only Bond’s boss, but Bond’s boss’s boss. Yep, even M has to hold the door open for this fella!

Can’t see anybody out there being unhappy about this casting decision. Finney joins those heavyweights previously reported, including Javier Bardem, Naomie Harris, and Ralph Fiennes.

Sam Mendes’ BOND 23 opens in the UK 26th October 2012.
