All we’re going to say is “good grief!”

There’s good news and bad news about this item.

The good news is that it would seem that a BATTLESTAR GALACTICA movie is, indeed, in the very early stages of pre-production. And Glen A. Larson, who created the original 1978 television series, is set to produce the film with TRANSCENDENCE writer Jack Paglen providing the screenplay.

The bad news is that Edward James Olmos, Jamie Bamber, Mary McDonnell or Katee Sackhoff et al., won’t be reprising their roles in the movie. Indeed not! For this cinematic adventure won’t be a ‘lost’ episode from producer Ronald D. Moore’s 2004 version, nor a continuation of that series. Instead the film will be a complete reimagining of the GALACTICA mythos. The basic premise will, however, remain the same with the sentient machines that are the Cylons hunting down the remaining survivors of the human race as they flee across the cosmos in a rag-tag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest – a shining planet, known as Earth.

So along with all the other planned reboots here’s another one to file away under ‘Why?!’
