If Ultron wasn’t enough of a threat for the Avengers to deal with, it’s being reported by Latino Review that AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is to feature another villain for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to tackle.

LR claims that a casting call has gone out across Hollywood to say that Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS ASSEMBLE sequel is looking to cast a physically imposing male in his 40s or 50s. Not only that, LR goes one further and claims that the role in question in that of HYDRA’s Baron Von Strucker. The Von Strucker character is essentially a near-indestructible Nazi who has a healing factor that even Wolverine would be impressed with. He made his debut way back in 1964’s SGT. FURY AND HIS HOWLING COMMANDOS title.

Early names apparently in the frame for the Von Strucker role are LORD OF THE RINGS’ Marton Csokas and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II’s Dougray Scott.

Baron Von Strucker seems a logical fit within Disney’s Marvel world, especially given that HYDRA is already a known entity amongst audiences. It’s also claimed that Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch are to be members of HYDRA when the movie begins.

Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is currently scheduled for a 1st May, 2015 release.
