With the Scarlet Witch and her brother Quicksilver both confirmed to appear in Joss Whedon’s AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, it appears as if Elizabeth Olsen is the new front-runner for the role of Magneto’s slightly crazy daughter.

Previously, Whedon has gone on record as saying that Saoirse Ronan was going to the basis for the look of the Scarlet Witch, prompting many to expect the actress to land the role. It’s now being reported that Ronan has decided against joining the Marvel cinematic universe, and Elizabeth Olsen has jumped to the front of the line. That’s the story according to Bleeding Cool at least.

Olsen can be seen next in Spike Lee’s OLDBOY, due in November, before she then stars in Gareth Edwards’ GODZILLA, due in March. As it happens, her GODZILLA co-star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is being heavily linked to the role of Quicksilver in Whedon’s sequel to his AVENGERS ASSEMBLE.

Expect more on this as it develops.
