After parting ways with Edgar Wright, Marvel Studios and Disney have been searching for somebody, anybody, to helm their Phase Three opener, ANT-MAN. In the wake of Wright’s departure, the studio apparently offered the gig to ANCHORMAN’s Adam McKay, who in turn ended up turning the job down.

With McKay saying no, Marvel’s attention turned to DODGEBALL’s Rawson Marshall Thurber and ZOMBIELAND’s Ruben Fleischer. In a new report from Variety, it’s claimed that Thurber has now been offered the ANT-MAN directing gig, but that he has also turned the job down.

In some further bad news for Marvel and Disney, it’s claimed that Fleischer is another person who isn’t too keen on ANT-MAN, having just had a child. In addition, he’s also reportedly being eyed to direct GHOSTBUSTERS 3, a film that wouldn’t require an immediate start like ANT-MAN.

As for the cast, ANT-MAN currently has Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly, Patrick Wilson and Corey Still signed up. Who will direct them for the 17th July, 2015 release is currently up in the air, though.

Expect more on this as it develops.
