Earlier this year it was reported that the project once known as AMITYVILLE: THE LAST TAPES was being changed to simply AMITYVILLE. As well as that, some initial plot details were released. Now comes word that the film has finished shooting, plus the reveal of the main cast of this latest redo.
The actual shooting of AMITYVILLE finished towards the end of last week, and it’s now said that the film will be a direct sequel to the 1979 original, THE AMITYVILLE HORROR. In terms of the cast, we previously knew that Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bella Thorne were to be featured, and joining them will be McKenna Grace, Cameron Monaghan, Taylor Spreitler, Thomas Mann and Jennifer Morrison.
In AMITYVILLE, Leigh will play a single mother, Joan, who moves her three children into the infamous Amityville house. Only once in the house do the family learn of the building’s dark past. Expect lots of sinister goings-on.
To be directed by P2 and MANIAC’s Franck Khalfoun, AMITYVILLE is currently set for a 2nd January, 2015 release.
