With a third and fourth entry both confirmed for Marc Webb’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN series, the director has been speaking to Crave about where a fourth film may take the franchise.

Webb said, “Well, I think this was conceived of as a trilogy so there was a defined architecture to the story we were telling and we had sort of a rough outline of what was going to happen. I think for the fourth movie, what we’ve discovered is there are so many ancillary characters that have enormous cinematic potential that there may be other ways to exploit those characters in a way that is exciting and fun and worthwhile. It might not just be a Spider-Man movie.”

With THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 confirmed to feature Electro, Rhino and the Green Goblin in some form – not to mention heavy rumours of Menace, Black Cat and the Vulture – it’s no surprise that a variation of the Sinister Six is being talked about as a possibility down the line. In terms of teaming with Spidey, we’re not sure how Sony could work that. They have the rights to Spider-Man and his supporting characters, so a possible joining of forces with a Black Cat or a Venom could be an option, but characters such as the Fantastic Four, Daredevil, Punisher, Captain America, Iron Man, etc., are a no-go.

Still, there’s plenty of time to see how things take shape before then. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 is set for a 10th June, 2016 release, with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 4 due on 4th may, 2018.
