The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has had more news stories of late than Curt Connors has brain cells. From a villain line-up bigger than an explosion count in a Michael Bay movie, to rumours surrounding cameos, casts and suits. However here is one story, most likely to get spider senses tingling. Director Marc Webb left a very cryptic looking message on twitter today. The tweet read:

Now this may may look like nonsense but it is in fact an announcement befitting of the Daily Bugle. For those not fluent in the languages of Middle-earth, the message reads, “WATCH FOR THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 TRAILER IN FRONT OF THE HOBBIT IN 3D”.  So Spidey fans you now know where to swing to, in order to catch your first glimpse of Webb’s stocked superhero sequel. A sequel that sees Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield) tested by the arrival of charged villain Electro (Jamie Foxx) and struggle to stand by his promise to leave Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone) alone after the events of the first film.

Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug 3D is released here in UK cinemas on the 13th December 2014. As if enough hype didn’t surround Jackson’s second film in his new Tolkien adaptation trilogy, now you may well find a few web heads queuing alongside the wizards, hobbits and orcs come December. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (web) shoots into cinemas on the 18th April 2014 and as well as starring Garfield, Stone and Foxx, sees Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan and Chris Cooper also round out the impressive cast.
