Recently promoting THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES, Dane DeHaan spoke to Collider about a certain upcoming Spidey film. Cast as Peter Parker’s bestest bud, Harry Osborn, in Marc Webb’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2, DeHaan gave his thoughts on the script and on his co-star, Chris Cooper.

DeHaan revealed, “I haven’t actually started filming. I start like super soon. They have me in preparations, but my first day on set is coming up.”

On Chris Cooper being cast as Harry’s father, Norman Osborn, he said, “I met Chris Cooper on my first ever movie, Amigo, which had a budget of $1 million, so in a way it’s all come full circle in an awesome way. I have mad respect for Chris Cooper… he’s amazing.”

In regards to the film’s script, a gushing DeHaan enthused, “It’s awesome, I mean it really is. It’s human and it’s deep and it’s epic, and also a huge superhero movie. It all makes sense and all comes from very human elements.”

Marc Webb’s sequel will see Peter Parker trying to balance high school graduation, his feelings for Gwen Stacy – not to mention his promise to Captain Stacy to stay away from her – and the small matter of a few supervillains.

The film will see Andrew Garfield return as Peter Parker, Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Sally Field as Aunt May and Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben. New additions include DeHaan as Harry Osborn, Cooper as Norman Osborn, Shailene Woodley as Mary Jane Watston, Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as the Rhino.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 is released in the US on 2nd May, 2014, with us lucky UK folk getting the film a few weeks earlier on 18th April.
