For many, Agent Phil Coulson was one of the best parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He added extra humor and was ultimately responsible for bringing the team together. When Joss Whedon killed him off in last year’s THE AVENGERS, many were shocked and heartbroken. But sadness was quickly replaced by confusion when Marvel announced Coulson’s return in their highly anticipated TV show, AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. While the details of his return remain shrouded in mystery (Marvel executives are staying tight-lipped on the matter), the question many are asking now is: Is he staying with the show, or will we see him again in a future Marvel film?

While being grilled by The Associated Press on the matter, Whedon answered: “He could. Right now it’s not something I’m pursuing because I have so much going on in AVENGERS 2. Finding out that Coulson is alive would be an entire B story. And I already have too much movie. That’s better than the other thing. But we also have the movies and we have TV and we need to make sure there’s some crossover, but not so much that people go, ‘Well, I don’t need to see that movie. I saw it on TV.’ If we do that (Marvel Studios President) Kevin Feige is going to come after me with a pitchfork.”

There you have it. So, what do you think? Does this disappoint you? Or are you satisfied just sticking with him in AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.? Share your comments below or on Twitter @STARBURST_MAG
