Matt Smith, who has been playing the eleventh Doctor in BBC TV’s DOCTOR WHO since 2010, has been confirmed as joining the cast of Hollywood feature film HOW TO CATCH A MONSTER, the debut directorial effort from Ryan Gosling. The fantasy movie tells the story of a mysterious disappearing, dream-like city and Billy, a single mother who is transported to a gloomy, fantastical underwater town. The cast also includes Eve Mendes (Gosling’s real-life girlfriend) and Christina Hendricks. The film enters production in the spring and is expected to be released in 2014. No word yet on how this new project will impact on Matt’s future DOCTOR WHO commitments (if any) beyond the shrouded-in-secrecy 50th Anniversary special which starts filming in April.
