The cast for James Gunn’s GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY has taken another brilliantly bonkers turn this week, with the news that Benicio Del Toro has signed up for a leading role.

According to Deadline, the actor has signed a multi-movie deal that allows him to feature in numerous Marvel movies. It is unconfirmed as to who he will be playing in the film, but fans have already exploded in speculation. The name ‘Thanos’ being at the tip of most people’s lips, but it isn’t clear if he will play a heroic or evil character as of yet.

Benicio will join a cast that includes Chris Pratt, Glenn Close, Karen Gillian, Zoe Saldana, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, John C. Reilly, Ophelia Lovibond and Dave Bautista. Possibly the greatest Marvel cast ever?

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY is expected to land in UK cinemas in August 2014
