And here’s us thinking that FLIGHT OF THE NAVIGATOR was going to be the strangest property Disney would resurrect this year! That’s right, the 1977 movie which featured a young orphan who starts knocking about with a big animated dragon is heading for the big-screen again, and David Lowery and co-writer/producer Toby Halbrooks are the screenwriters tasked with contemporising the tale. Weirdly, Lowery just made his feature film debut with acclaimed indie AIN’T THEM BODIES SAINTS, a drama focusing on an escaped criminal crossing Texas to reunite with his wife and daughter. Nothing wrong with that per se, but transitioning straight from that to such kiddie fare is a bit of a headscratcher. Perhaps this PETE’S DRAGON will be a dark, gritty exploration of mental illness. Perhaps not.

We’ll bring you more news of PETE’S DRAGON as it develops…
