THE CROW reboot is back in the news via a cheeky exclusive over at Bloody Disgusting. The horror hounds are reporting that their (apparently very credible) insider has info suggesting that X-MEN FIRST CLASS star James McAvoy is eyeing the lead role as Eric Draven, the titular resurrected avenger.

As regular readers might know, the studio behind the reboot, Relativity Media, have had a very tough time getting this project off the ground – it’s been on-and-off again more times than Rihanna and Chris Brown. Law suits, lost leads (both Mark Whalberg and Bradley Cooper were attached along the way) and directors dropping out (we’re looking at you Stephen Norrington and Juan Carlos Fresnadillo) resulted in the project languishing in development hell. It was all looking so good when we last reported on it in January 2012 -Relativity hired in-demand screenwriter Jesse Wigutow and director F. Javier Gutiérrez come back on board to direct. Then… zip.

If this is confirmed, expect things to start moving pretty fast – Relativity have sat on this property for too long, and will be very eager to get this franchise starting anew.

More as it develops…
