Sesame Street

No doubt inspired by the (very much deserved) success of Disney’s THE MUPPETS last year, 20th Century Fox have drafted in REAL STEEL director Shawn Levy to oversee a new big-screen SESAME STREET flick.

On script duties is long-time Muppet writer Joel Mazzarino, who, along with contributing to the show itself, was previously responsible for the movies ELMO IN GROUCHLAND and the under-appreciated MUPPETS FFROM SPACE (contrary to popular opinion it is not the worst Muppet movie, that honour, IMHO, goes the criminally dull MUPPET TREASURE ISLAND).

STREET joins FRAGGLE ROCK, a THE MUPPETS 2, and puppet noir picture THE HAPPYTOWN MURDERS on the Jim Henson Pictures movie slate.

Hopefully this will be a slight improvement on the disappointing FOLLOW THAT BIRD back in ‘85…
