Writer/director has used San Diego’s Comic-Con to announce the new title for his AVENGERS ASSEMBLE sequel. The film will now be known as AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON. Whedon also revealed the film’s logo…

According to SuperheroHype, some brief footage was also shown. The report says, “The Avengers footage is super quick, featuring lines from the first Avengers. Slowly, CGI images form Ultron’s face. Then the title comes up. AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON!”

AGE OF ULTRON is a comic book arc from Brian Michael Bendis and Bryan Hitch in which Ultron seeks to destroy the planet. It involves time travel, alternative futures, a lot of death and destruction, and also a lot of Wolverine. That description makes it almost sound like DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. No actual plot details are known on AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON at this point, so it stands to be seen as to how much inspiration it will draw from the comic book arc of the same name.

The film is set to start production in March of next year, with a release date of 1st May, 2015 planned.
