The Hollywood Reporter has word that Morena Baccarin has landed the female lead in the Ryan Reynolds-starring DEADPOOL. The actress is best known to genre fans for turns in the likes of GOTHAM, SERENITY and FIREFLY, not to mention having lent her vocal chords to a plethora of animated DC outings.

No exact details are known on just which character Baccarin will be playing yet, although it’s believed that she will be a love interest of sorts for the titular Merc with a Mouth. Baccarin joins a cast that currently includes Reynolds, T.J. Miller, Ed Skrein and Gina Carano. The X-Men’s Colossus will also be appearing, although Daniel Cudmore, who’s played the character three times on the big screen so far, will not be reprising the role.

To be directed by Tim Miller, DEADPOOL is currently set for a February 12th, 2016 release.
